When one says "Pešter", the first association of many people is food. The Sjenica cottage cheese is one of the most famous in the whole Balkan Peninsula. The lamb from Pešter is a rare specialty hardly found elsewhere. The veal from these areas is an extraordinary delight in the tables throughout our country and Europe. There are desserts you cannot taste anywhere except in Pešter such as jardum – thick specialty of sheep milk, the Sjenica sudžuk (delicatessen) or buckwheat dishes, being prepared for long hours with great love and pleasure. If you like fish, you can catch the highest-class trout in some of the local rivers or lakes, or you can buy it at one of the two existing ponds. The Sjenica pies and oriental delicacies are the specialties to remember.
